Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus has been the home of the Coal & Coke Heritage Center since 1977. The project developed and expanded following the publication of what is now considered a classic work on coal and coke: Patch/Work Voices: The Culture and Lore of a Mining People. Tucked along the based of the Chestnut Ridge in the Alleghny Mountains, the Connellsville Coke Region was world facous for its abundant, high-qaulity bituminous coal and beehive coke. During the period of 1870-1970, the Connellsville Coke Region fueled the blast furnaces of the steel industry in nearby Pittsburgh.

On Tuesday morning, September 11, 2001, the U.S came under attack when four commercial airliners were hijacked and used to strike targets on the ground. Nearly 3,000 people tragically lost their lives that day. Because of the actions of the 40 passengers and crew aboard United Airlines Flight 93, the attack on the U.S Capitol was thwarted. The Flight 93 National Memorial serves as a field of honor that will never be forgotten.

The McCarl Coverlet Gallery is a nonprofit cultural organization that collects, preserves, interprets, and disseminates the history of weaving and folk traditions in the Northeastern region of the United States. Frank Lloyd Wright, an American architect, designer, writer, and educator, promoted organic architecture, which was best exemplified in his most famous work-Fallingwater. This one of a kind home was built for the Kaufmann family based on their love for Bear Run's rushing waterfalls. The epitome of "organic architecture," Fallingwater's design symbolizes the harmony between people and nature. Designed on a hexagonal module, Kentuck Knob is a small, one-story Usonian house. Usonian, meaning affordable for the average American, was a signature design of Frank Lloyd Wright. Both dramatic and serene, the house appears almost part of the mountain itself and stands 2,050 feet above sea level. As an open floor plan, cantilevered overhangs and great expanses of glass effortlessly integrate the inside with the outside.

The Greensburg Fire Department Museum was formed in the late 1950's by Assistant Chief Al Rosatti with the help of fellow firefighters and their families. As a result of limited storage space, historic artifacts were being lost- that is, until the Greensburg Fire Department Museum was established. Over time, the museum collected artifacts from within its department and surrounding departments. They are now on display in what is now the museum, located behind City Hall.

The South Fork dam failed on Friday, May 31, 1889 and unleashed 20,000,000 tons of water that devasted Johnstown, PA. The flood killed 2,209 people, but it brought the nation and the world together to aid the "Johnstown Sufferers." The story of the Johnstown Flood reminds us all. "...that we must leave nothing undone for the preservation and protection of our brother men."

Immediately following the devastating Johnstown Flood of 1889, the Cambria Iron Company began construction of the inclined railway. The purpose was to carry people, horses and wagons to the new hilltop community of Westmont. On June 1, 1891 the Johnstown Inclined Plane began providing convenient transportation up Yoder Hill, which has a steep 70.9% grade. On March 1, 1936 when flood waters again ran through Johnstown, the Inclined Plane proved its worth by carrying almost 4,000 residents to safety. Today, the Johnstown Inclined Plane is the steepest vehicular inclined plane in the world.

The Ligonier Valley Rail Road Museum is housed in the original Ligonier Valley Rail Road Station that was built in 1896. The railroad was founded by Judge Thomas Mellon and began passenger operation in 1877. During the course of its 75 years of operation it carried 9 million passengers and hauled 32 million tons of freight. The Somerset Historical Center is a 150-acre rural history museum located 4-miles North of the town of Somerset, PA. The Somerset Historical Center preserves the history of life in rural Southwestern Pennsylivania from the times of the region's first farmers to the present day through exhibits, workshops, and educational programs. The Historical Center serves as the headqurters of the Historical & Genealogical Society of Somerset County. Permanent orientation exhibits and videos can be seen in the Visitors Center, home to the Historical Society's Genealogical Research Library and additional changing exhibits.

The Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art (SAMA) is a community art museum founded in 1976. Saint Vincent Basilica Parish was formed in April of 1790 when Father Theodore Brouwers, O.F.M purchased the 300 acres of land call "Sportsman's Hall Tract" and thus, founded Sportsman's Hall Parish. The parish was later placed under the patronage of Saint Vincent de Paul and so was called Saint Vincent parish. Saint Vincent Basilica Parish is now a parish of the Diocese of Greensburg and shares a campus with Saint Vincent College, Saint Vincent Seminary, and Saint Vincent Archabbey.

The Wagner-Ritter House & Garden operates as a satellite facility to the Heritage Discovery Center, and is currently only open to group tours with advance notice. Most house museums showcase an architecturally distinguished home, or were the homes of famous people- or both. The Wagner-Ritter House and Garden tells a very different story- the story of a modest working-class family who spent their lives in "the shadow of the mills" in Johnstown's Cambria City.
