Forbes State Forest consists of nearly 59,000 acres of land throughout Fayette, Somerset, and Westmoreland Counties. A portion of Forbes State Forest serves as the highest peak in Pennsylvania, also known as Mount Davis. This park features over 250 miles of hiking mountain biking, and cycling trails, horseback riding, picnicking, fishing, hunting, cross-country skiing, and 115-miles of snowmobiling trails.

Kooser State Park is just a short distance from Hidden Valley, in the heart of the Laurel Highlands. This park is home to 250 acres of forest, a beautiful trout stream that serves as a popular fishing destination, and 1.5-miles of moderately easy hiking.

Laurel Hill State Park is made up of 4,062 acres of property, including 15-miles of hiking and mountain biking, a 63-acre lake that offers swimming, boating, fishing, and picnicking, a campground, and 10-miles of the 120-mile snowmobiling trail system in neighboring Forbes State Forest.

Laurel Ridge State Park is spans Laurel Mountain from the Youghiogheny River in Ohiopyle to the Conemaugh Gorge in Johnstown. The number one attraction of this park is the Laurel Highlands Hiking Trail, a 70-mile hiking trail for day hikers and backpackers alike.

Despite Laurel Summit State Park's small size of 6-acres, this park features two scenic hikes: Spruce Flats Bog and Wolf Rocks. It also serves as a trail head to Forbes State Forest's hiking trails.

Linn Run State Park located just outside of Hidden Valley in Westmoreland County. The 612-acre park is a beautiful mixed hardwood and evergreen forest perfect for hiking and picnicking. Linn Run also features Grove Run and Rock Run, two trout streams for the fishing enthusiast.

Ohiopyle State Park attracts millions of visitors every year for its rugged, but natural beauty and 20,500 acres of outdoor recreation. The main attraction of this park is the Youghiogheny River Gorge, a rushing waterfall that sits in the center of Ohiopyle. With 79-miles of hiking trails and 27-miles of mountain biking and cycling trails, white-water rafting, horseback riding, fishing, rock climbing, cross country skiing, 16-miles of snowmobiling, and sledding, Ohiopyle State Park is sure to have something that will meet your thrill-seeking needs.
